Delicious Organic Sweet Potato Muffin Gluten Free Recipe

Today is recipe Thursday here on Jeanpatch Holistics blog.  This is a southern comfort food for sure!  Today it is cold and cloudy out and the perfect day for making something warm and yummy in the oven.   I'll be sharing a delicious gluten free recipe today which is one of my favorite's for breakfast;  Gluten free Organic Sweet Potato Muffins!  Let's get started on the ingredients and what the finished product looks like.

I use my ceramic muffin dish that I got off of QVC year's ago and absolutely love because clean-up is a breeze.
Ingredients List:
  • 1 cup gluten free organic flour of your choice (amaranth, rice, soy, corn, millet, buckwheat, quinoa)
  • 2 large organic eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (aluminum free)
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup gluten free baking mix of your choice
  • 1 cup mashed organic cooked organic sweet potato
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter cubed
I always use organic ingredients in all my cooking.  It is better for you and it really makes a difference in how your food tastes, not to mention helping you to feel more energetic.  The first thing I do is beat the 2 eggs in a large mixing bowl.  I add in the water and sweet potato and mix well with a wood spoon.  Next, add the flour, baking powder and salt and blend well.  Last add in your cubed cold butter mashing it a little in to the mixture.  If the mixture is too dry just add a little more water until it is just moist but not runny.
Now oil your muffin dish and spoon in 1/4 cup of the mixture into each opening.  I use a 6 cup muffin pan.  If you have any left over batter just portion it out into the 6 sections.  Place in a 350 degree oven and bake for 20 minutes or until knife comes out clean.  Let cool 10 minutes before removing from muffin dish.
Enjoy your delicious and nutritious gluten free sweet potato muffins!

What is an Etsy Treasury By Jeanpatch Holistics

Etsy is a unique website that hosts a variety of products from handmade, vintage items and supplies.  I opened my shop, Jeanpatch Holistics in 2008 and filled it with my handmade eco-friendly products in the mixed media arts.
One of the ways we can showcase our favorite products is by making what is called a 'treasury' of 16 shops in one collection.
The treasury can be shared on social media and promoted within Etsy by adding it to your favorites list.  There is a box that says favorite with a heart in it that will turn red when you click it.
It then gets added to your shop section with the heart icon.  You can come back later and see what items you added to your favorite section with the purpose of buying at some point in time.
Supporting the handmade artist is the best way to support small business and help the economy.  Here is a treasury I made that has just a few of the products and seller's that I like on Etsy.

Spring Cleaning Tips

It's almost spring and you know what that means?  It's time for some spring cleaning tips.  I'm not just going to share with you the most common type of spring cleaning tips, for the home.  I'm also going to share tips with you on how to spring clean your body, mind and business.  So, let's get started.
                               Reduce, Recycle, Repurpose
1.  Easy ways to spring clean the house.  Start with one room of your house and spend 15 minutes a day going through drawers, closets etc...and getting rid of what you haven't used in a year or more.
2.  Then after you have gotten rid of all the things you no longer were using, move on to the cleaning part and spend 15 minutes a day in each room cleaning under things, move things and refresh things.
                                       House Beautiful
3.  Now this is the really fun part of my spring cleaning tips.  Change your room décor to a spring time feel.  Brighten up dark corners with bright colorful pictures, flowers and paint.
4.  Add some new spring themed décor to your kitchen by simply adding new towels, soap dispenser and rugs.

                                      Body Check-Up
5.  Spring clean your body with a good cleans for the organs either with foods or a good health food store brand.
6.  Switch out refined white food products, such as white cane sugar, white wheat flour and white starchy foods for rich whole grain, colorful foods that are organic, not all natural.
7.  Read labels and don't buy anything with sugar added unless it is organic ingredients.
                                           Garden Delights
8.  Spruce up that yard or patio with some bright and colorful annuals in an array of bright colors.  Add some pots of organic herbs while you are at it and you'll soon be noticing the difference between store bought blah compared to garden fresh Wow! ingredients.

Within no time you'll be feeling better and you'll look better too.  Your house will sparkle and dazzle with all the bright spring time colors and decorations you've added.

Notebook Made From Recycled Magazine Art

Project Life is all the rage right now.  I came up with my own way of documenting my life through my mixed media art journals.  I call them "Dream Journals".   We all grow up with dreams of what we want to be when we venture out into the world to start our own life.

Here is a great way to document your dreams and use up those stacks of magazines you have around the house that are just collecting dust.  Don't throw them away, put them to good use in your next craft project like I did with this one.

This is the front and back cover of a journal I made for one of my dearest friends that is forever helping out me and my family.  She has a sewing room in her garage so I thought she would really enjoy having a 'dream journal' to keep her sewing projects organized and at her fingertips.

I offer these custom made journals in my Etsy shop, Jeanpatch Holistics.  If you'd like me to make you one and personalize it for you or a friend, I'd be happy to create one for you too!  Just click on my shop name and it will take you to the link to get started.

Thank You for Stopping By Today!

Positive, Uplifting Words on Greeting Cards and Prints With Original Artwork by Delecto Art

We all want to be happy and think positive, don't we!  It is not always an easy thing to do, especially since the world is filled with negativity and things we can't control.
I Believe We Can Make Our Life Better
                  I Believe I Am Loved
I Believe God Cares About Me (John 3:16)
                  I Believe I Am Beautiful
To help myself live a positive and happy life, I came up with a way to incorporate my daughter's artwork into my products to help her sell her work and get noticed.  She is so talented, which anyone who can really draw, paint etc... are talented in my book!
Here is a drawing she did when she was 10 years old, she is now 23 years old.  This cute bear drawing has been printed on canvas paper and can be used for someone whose name starts with the letter 'B' to help them 'Believe' in themselves.  And, to show them that they are loved and cared about.  And, don't we all need to know that?!
You can frame it with or without glass to add a bit of positive energy to any room. It will be added to my Etsy shop, Luv Personalized Gifts this week.
What do you think?  Would you give this to someone to uplift them and show them how much they mean to you?  If, so please leave a comment.
Stay tuned to my shop as I add these personalized alphabet cards and prints each week.
                                     Useful Ideas!
I think it would look great in a classroom or child's room to inspire young minds to Believe in themselves!  What about someone who collects Teddy Bears like your Grandmother, Mom, Sister or Aunt!
If you are interested in buying one, make me an offer.  It measures 8x10 inches.  I will consider all reasonable offers.  I'll send you an invoice via paypal.  Shipping in the U.S. is $3.00

How To Make A (Paradise Life Project) Scrapbook Art Journal

How to make a "Paradise life" project journal.  Or, as it is more popularly known, a scrapbook and art journal that's main purpose is to inspire, uplift, motivate and heal you from any major life changing event.
I have found that there is a way to bring yourself out of depression with the help of a few things you may have around the house.
First, you have to draw close to God in prayer.  Leaning on him for comfort and support is the first step to healing our minds and body after we have suffered a major life event.  And, especially to get us through any trials that may come up.
Next, don't feel sorry for yourself or isolate yourself from others.  This only worsens your depression.
Furthermore, get back to basic skills you had as a child, coloring books and crayons.  There are now big girl crayons and coloring books.  Watercolor crayons, pastel crayons and colored pencils.  The coloring books are now called art journals and you can either draw your own pictures or use rubber stamps, copied pages out of coloring books, images off the internet, pages out of a magazine or book can be put in your paradise project journal/scrapbook.

Tools to get you started: basic metal ring binder (recipe book, craft book etc.) I am using an old gardening metal ring binder that has the divider pages and tons of paper in between each section that you can cover with patterned paper, pictures and journaling blocks.

double sided tape, scissors, glue stick, stickers, photos etc...
You can do a daily journal, weekly journal, just as long as you keep adding it to it every few days is the important thing.
I look for a gift from God each day to write about in my journal.  I then read scriptures that talk about the changes that will take place here on the earth after Jesus has removed all wickedness.  Daniel 2:44, Revelation 21:4, Psalms 37:11, 29, Proverbs 2: 21, 22, Isaiah 65, 33:24
I am focusing on all the positive things I want to do when I am healed that I can not do now.  In my daily art journal I keep an account of all the good gifts I receive each day when I wake up.  I look for all the things God has given me for that day.  The first is always saying a prayer of thanks that I am still alive and can enjoy my family and friends.
I hope this has inspired you to start your Paradise Life Project!  copyright protected 2014

Photo of the Day!

Are you thankful for being alive?  I know I am!  Happy Friday!  I hope everyone is well and if not will be well again real soon!  I am resting and dealing with this flu.  I finally put the cortisone on my ear to stop the pain and swelling.  It feels so much better now.  For that and for being alive I am thankful!

Senior Discounts Age 50 Plus Tips!

Senior's get discounts at local businesses but you have to ask.  I turned 50 this year and never thought much about what that meant in the world of business until the AARP envelope came with my name on it.  Needless, to say I was horrified to see that I was now classified as a senior to many businesses.
I tossed the AARP in the trash and never thought much about what I was missing out on until I saw something my daughter brought home from work and left on the table.  I'm sure she didn't know what can of worms she was opening up for her dear Mother.
It actually has changed my thinking about being called a senior citizen, but in a good way!  I did a little research based on the paper my daughter brought home that contained a list of nationwide businesses that offer a senior discount, if you ask that is.
So, I googled by my state of Florida and came up with this list.  Do the same for your state and you'll be amazed to find out how many businesses you frequent offer a discount starting at the young age of 50.
I am going to cash in and get my fair share, honey!  Not only can you get a discount for a cup of coffee, but even your local grocery store gives a discount!  Now that is when I sat up and took notice, since that is one of our largest monthly costs, food!
If you live in the Sunshine State of Florida here is what I found and wanted to share with you today.
